The temperature has dropped SIGNIFICANTLY in the past two days, I had a rather intense conversation with my boyfriend’s parents, and had just lost the tie breaker for 3rd place at the pub quiz, only to come home to a very depressing episode of CSI. Suffice it to say, I was somewhat blue (literally and figuratively) and ready to just fall into bed with my hot water bottle.

But internet addict me just had to press the little Google Reader button on my toolbar to see what new blogs were awaiting to be read.

And what did I see? AN AWARD! From the most awesome Trina over at Ballatrin’s Knitting!!! Which immediately meant that the spirits soared,  I started dancing around, and sleep looked like it would have to wait another hour or so.

The Neno’s Award Rules and Regulations:

1. As a dedication for those who love blogging and love to encourage friendships through blogging.
2. To seek the reasons why we all love blogging.
3. Put the award in one post as soon as you receive it.
4. Don’t forget to mention the person who gives you the award.
5. Answer the award’s question by writing the reason why you love blogging.
6. Tag and distribute the award to as many people as you like.

7. Don’t forget to notify the award receivers and put their links in your post.

Now, call me a stickler, but I don’t see any question marks indicating that a question has been asked. But I infer that this award wants you answer why you love blogging (step 5 and how it’s phrased annoys me) so here I go:

I’m ashamed to say that I actually have two blogs: one predominately dedicated to knitting and the other a place for me to rant about how stupid the British visa system is, why N.E.Ds on buses (and basically in general) scare me, and what to do when you see a snake with A CLAW (beat that sucker down with a cattle prod).  But the reason for my knitting blog is something I’ve said before- Knitting/yarn porn.  I LOVE reading knitting blogs, seeing what creations others have made,  and learning from their experiences so that my knitted project can be spared a frogging.  I can actually work myself up into an excited state of desire just by seeing a particular pattern that screams out to me CAST ME ON RIGHT NOW (Central Park Hoodie, Vine Yoke Cardi, and Wisteria, I’m looking at you), and then I obsessively stalk that pattern to see what yarns others use, what modifications they made, if I should also make those mods, etc.   And I hope that somehow by blogging about it, I can spare some poor soul the same problems I faced/use better mods to get a better FO that they are happy with.

To that end, I would like to pass this award on to Katie at The Endless Cast-on.  I happened across her blog whilst searching the interwebz for ‘knitting’ and ’20something’ since it seemed to me as though all the knitting blogs I found only focused on ‘the married knitter’, ‘the knitter with children’ or ‘endless knit baby crap’.  Negatory. Katie has been my fount of knowledge whenever I freakout over a pattern she has already made (note to Kaite- be warned, my New Years goal is colour work, so expect me to hit you up on questions a la Matrix in the near future).  Without Katie, my Owls jumper would be hunchbacked and on it’s way to keep bell ringers warm in the towers of Norte Dame.

I’m also gonna give this to my friend Erin at Patchwork Underground.  Though totally an incredible seamstress, Erin has been known to dabble in the crochet arts and her blog is full of wonderful tips, creations, and the occasional prize.  Not only does she make cute clothing, Erin also encourages creative crafting through reusable goods and is a shining example of creative resuse genius.  Go to her Etsy shop and buy all her things (and then send me some because I can’t afford them just now).
